Norman Hunter is a Scottish artist whose work is deeply rooted in place, experience, and a renewed creative passion. Born in 1967, he spent many years living across England and in Italy, experiences that broadened his cultural perspective and informed his artistic voice. After studying at Glasgow School of Art and Central St Martins in London, Hunter stepped away from painting for two decades before rediscovering his practice in 2016. Since returning to the Scottish Borders in 2017, his work has become increasingly inspired by the region’s distinctive landscapes, with its shifting light and dramatic topography serving as a powerful and ongoing source of inspiration.
